#1 All Vegetables Mix

Fish bonemeal: From cold-water Pacific fisheries, fish bonemeal contains 20% readily available phosphate, 4% quick-release Nitrogen, and 19% Calcium, as well as many other sea minerals in readily available organic form.

Feather meal: From ground-up poultry feathers.  High in slow-release organic Nitrogen (12%) plus small amounts of phosphate (P), potash (K), Sulfur, and Calcium.

Montana rock phosphate:  Naturally mined rock phosphate contains 30% total slow-release phosphate rock and 29% Calcium along with other natural earth minerals.

Langbeinite (K-Mag): Natural mined source of potash 22%, Sulfur 22%, and Magnesium 11%.

Bonemeal:  The original phosphate fertilizer, steamed bone meal has been used by gardeners since the mid-1800s. Also a good Calcium source.

Jersey greensand:  From an ancient seadbed deposit, greensand has long been used by gardeners as a soil conditioner and great source of Potassium and trace minerals.

Alfalfa meal: Alfalfa (lucerne) has very deep roots that pull up a wide spectrum of minerals from the subsoil.  2.3% N, .5% P, and 3%K.

Kelp meal: Ocean kelp contains most of the minerals to be found in sea water in a naturally chelated form as well as powerful plant growth stimulants. 1.5% N, 0.5% P, and 3% K.

Azomite and Glacial rock dust: More sources of readily available trace minerals.  Azomite volcanic rock powder contains at least 72 elements.

Lignite: From ancient plant sources, lignite is high in fulvic and humic acids which stimulate biological activity in the soil and also contains many trace minerals.

Copper, Zinc, and Manganese sulfates and Sodium Borate: Purified from natural ores.  Combined with the Iron found in the rock dusts, these are blended to provide the perfect amount needed in the soil.

BioZome® archeobacteria are strains of ancient primitive bacteria, the kind that originally broke down the earth's rocky crust and turned it into soil. These bacteria not only break down and release nutrients from rock but can turn harmful pesticides and oil spills into water, CO2 and plant food.

MycoApply® MAXX is a combination of beneficial fungi, both endo- and ecto- types, that partner with plant roots, bringing them water and nutrients,  MycoApply® MAXX also contributes many strains of beneficial soil bacteria to enchance soil biology.

Survival Gardening

A rather dramatic word, survival, but some are taking the word seriously these days.  Worldwide the economy is on shaky footing and few of us know for sure what our income is going to be a couple of months from now, much less a year from now.  Many of us are hedging our bets by buying a little more food when we go grocery shopping, putting away some canned goods, dried beans etc.  Those more serious about being prepared for the uncertain future may have several months worth of food put away for their family, and those even more serious will have some garden seeds stored in a cool, dry, secure place.  I would encourage any or all of the above, and add one more: survival gardening fertilizer.  If we end up wanting or needing to grow our own food, either because there isn't food in the grocery stores or it simply costs too much, fertilizer is going to be as necessary as seeds and a place to grow.  Few places in the world offer perfectly mineralized nutrient rich soil, and most of those places that do are already taken.  In a survival situation one will necessarily have to use whatever area is available for growing food, whether that be the backyard lawn, a vacant lot somewhere, or some large pots and wooden boxes on a patio.  It would be nice to know that wherever one found one's self needing to grow some food, regardless of the soil quality, the food one grew would grow rapidly, healthily, and contain all of the nutrients necessary not only for surviving, but for thriving; perhaps better quality produce than one has ever had before.

Fifteen pounds of #1 All Vegetables Mix is enough to fertilize 300 to 600 square feet of garden, or 30 to 60 cubic feet of potting mix, depending on the crop.  Some crops like carrots and parsnips don't need or want a highly fertile soil; others like onions, cabbage, squash or corn demand high fertility, thus the difference. A fifteen by twenty foot 300 square foot garden, if densely planted, well watered, and carefully tended, will easily provide enough produce for a family of four during the growing season.  Twice that much area will provide room to grow food to can, dry, and store for the winter months. These are minimums, and as they say "your own experience may vary", but it has been our experience that a fifteen by twenty foot space of highly fertile soil will grow an amazing amount of produce.

Fifteen pounds of #1 All Vegetables Mix takes up about as much room as an average shoe box.  Along with a good selection of garden seeds and a sturdy garden trowel or folding shovel, it would easily fit in a small backpack leaving plenty of room left over, or take up only a small amount of shelf space in a back closet.  Wouldn't it be good to know that whatever might happen, if you needed to grow your own food, you had all that you would need to grow the best food ever?
